Activity #2

Tell us about your summer and what your hopes are for this new school year :Go to our classroom blog to talk about this https://homeroom.angelfire.com/blog

Remember the classroom expectations at all times. Once you have completed your work, go to the next activity.

Activity #2 a

Once you are done. I want you to explore AW the new networking site that the TDSB has placed for us to use. It is on the desktop of your computer. It should say AW on it. If you cannot find it then go to:

Once you explore all the buttons on it. Go to the blog website: https://homeroom.angelfire.com/blog and tell us about your experience using this program.

Activity #3

Explore the grade seven curriculum!

Find out what you are going to be learning about for Geography and History because you will use that information for your projects in the IT class.

Open a word file because you are going to need to copy from the following PDF file:

go to page 53 to find the HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY For grades 7-8

Copy the title and the over-all expectations onto a word file. Once you do that, make a choice of two topics you want to work on.

Activity #4

Please go to AW and find the link for the library: http://aw.tdsb.on.ca Explore the library website. Look at all the places you can find which might help you in getting information for all your courses/classes. Pay special attention to the ones that are related to Geography and History. Disscuss in the blog which places you found most helpful and which you think will be useful for your Geography or History class.

Activity #5

In this activity you will go to the program ULTRAKEY 4.0 which can be found in the programs section and begin your lessons. In order to be a good sevengator you should be typing properly. So go and practice!

Activity #7 (You will need headphones for this activity-Please remember though, you can only use them when I tell you to because I need to make sure you are following instructions correctly)

This activity will help you understand PLAGIARISM. Check out the following website:

You must create profile/account and you can begin to brainstorm your ideas online. Share it with me so you'll be able to move to the next activity. Activity # 8

For this activity, you are going to create your own blog. First, check out the website and other blogs on the website:

Activity #9

For this activity you are going to create your own blog-if you haven't already on http://wordpress.com

You are going to write your first blog introducing yourself to the world. Do not give important or revealing information. Just general things such as favorite stuff, etc. Change the appearance of your blog-go to the dashboard to edit your site-look for the words on the side that say "appearance".

Activity #10

For this activity you are going to link your spicynodes brainstorm to your blog. Once you do that you are going to create a comic strip about plagiarism. Go to the program comic life to create your cartoon. Make sure the cartoon you create is funny, catchy (able to make it's point) as well as that it demonstrates that you know what plagiarism is about-or why it should not be done. Try and upload these onto your blog- To get ideas for comics go to the following website: http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/f/free.asp type in the search button: plagiarism and see what comes up. DO NOT COPY remember we are avoiding plagiarism-BE ORIGINAL!!!!!

Activity #11

For this activity you are going to check out this online comic strip creator:

You need to create an account in the PIXTON FOR FUN section

You are going to recreate your comic strip on Plagiarism online and post it into your blog in wordpress

Talk about your experience using the website in your blog.

Activity #12

Please make sure you have followed all the other activities-Activity 12 is about checking back to reread the activities and it is to make sure that you have followed all the instructions. It is always important to read the instructions-this is an important skill that any computer tech/IT person must have.

Activity #13

For this activity, please refer back to activity #3. You were to pick 2 topics to do a project on for History and Geography-You need to have them for this activity. Blog them on your blog again just as you did for activity #3 in my blog.

Activity #14

For this activity you need to ask questions about the topics you chose. Ask the 5Ws of the two topics: What, where, who, why , when and how. For example, if the topic you chose for History was New France what questions might you have for this topic? It is a good idea to re read the curriculum expectations to get an idea of what the topic is about first before you ask the questions. Write your questions in your blog and make sure I see them before you move on to the next activity.

Activity #15

In this activity you are going to create another two brainstorms. The center node of your brainstorm will be about your topic. The other nodes are the questions you asked in activity #14.

Activity #16

In this activity you are going to research in the library website (refer to activity #4) about the questions that you made about the topics you chose. Answer the questions in your brainstorm. Find experts in your class who can show you how to add pictures to your nodes. Show me your work. Once you get all the questions answered post your brainstorm onto your blog.
